Last 15th of May, Ekkart Kaske, Executive Director of EJF, had the pleasure of participating as a speaker to the MedTech Forum 2019, which took place in Paris. Ekkart Kaske was invited to lead an expert session on ‘European class action/collective redress’, during which he shared several insights in regard to the Directive on Representative actions and on the current procedural landscape.

Ekkart Kaske gave an overview of EJF’s position regarding out-of-court and in-court settlements, highlighting how alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, such as ombudsman, constitute a more efficient and effective way forward for both businesses and consumers.

Joint Business Statements on TPLF

On 21 January 2026, a cross-sector group of business associations issued a joint statement renewing their call for proportionate, harmonised EU-level rules on professional third-party litigation funding (TPLF). The statement highlights the rapid expansion of for-profit litigation funding in Europe, which continues to operate with limited transparency and fragmented oversight, despite the presence of more than 300 funders in the EU.
